Biodiversity Certification Agreement
Information on the development of the biodiversity certification of SEPP growth centres can be found in the conservation plan for growth centres and on the evaluation of the biodiversity certification proposal (PDF 286KB). Biodiversity certification can be applied to a wide range of proposals and is available for both urban and rural areas. The Minister for Climate Change and the Environment adopts an ordinance that gives Albury`s local environmental plan for 2010 biodiversity certification until 24 February 2021. On 11 November 2009, the Minister for Environmental Protection, Heritage and the Arts signed an agreement with the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, together with the Minister for Planning in the Government of New South Wales and the Minister for Planning to carry out a strategic assessment of the growth centres in Sydney. These additional measures ensure that the strategic biodiversity certification process can respond to cumulative effects and support improved conservation outcomes at landscape or regional level. In order to offset the impact on biodiversity in biodiversity-certified areas, the biodiversity certification strategy includes an on-site and off-site conservation measure. . . .
